About: harlan ky coal miners
My husband and I were born and raised in Harlan KY. My husband went in the mines 19 years ago at the age of 18. Last year all the mines were shutting down including Arch Coal, so he was transferred to Leer which is still the same company in Taylor county WV. We had to leave everything and are starting our lives over here in WV.

My papaw and his dad before him and my dad before me we're all coal miners of Kentucky and as one day I'll be myself and hope that my two boys grow to be miners as well. I stand for what they do and the things they go through just to supply us worth not only power but a source of heat as well. My family and friends of my growing age have all now or at one time or another used coal burning stoves also called stokermatic stoves.

With Mr. Trump's election, all the happy shiny cynical people in DC, NYC, LA... get today the dividends of their contempt for hard working people, who refuse to die in oblivion and misery... Who could imagine that the blue collar class who built this country, everywhere in "fly-over" America, would contemplate without any reaction all that globalized flow of money , leaving them living on food stamps and tiny pensions...
