Great video
Question if Australia mine very thing what happens next?
Please it's question
V one sided and missing the BIG picture. The Ausi gov does the right thing and allocates Millions of acre of land to the traditional owners . They then agree to allow mining on one tiny patch of a few acres. Hundreds of jobs created, 1 billion in Tax paid to the people of Australia and the 18 families of the traditional owners get paid over 200 MILLION and they say they are the victims!!
BIG STORY IS the world needs NUCLEAR POWER - which is clean BASE LOAD Power otherwise we will keep filling the air with fossil fuels. ABOUT TIME WE RECOGNISE WE HAVE TO BE PRAGMATIC
Bit of a re-hash of year 8 gold-rush history lesson on steroids with booming orchestral accompaniment. Looks like the producers completely overlooked the impact of mining on the ENVIRONMENT, maybe they have never been to NW Tasmania or an open cut coal mine in Northern NSW. Or maybe the influence of Sir Arvi Parbo, prevented the "environment" invading the grand narrative being told.... why exactly does the mining baron get a "special thanks" in the credits, did he part fund the production? His history of supporting and mouthing far-right politics and anti-environmental attitudes are well known, disclosure please... Also in part one, no mention that these mineral resources are finite and are rapidly being mined out. Apparently the producers are reading from the script prepared by the Mineral Council, which tries to convince Australians that our finite resources are actually limitless.... so we shouldn't demand fair royalties be paid while they last. Looks like in Part 2 we are going to get Marcia Langton bagging out the Mirrar Aboriginal People, because they opposed the Jabiluka uranium mine in the Kakadu National Park because they are controlled by the evil wilderness activists... A few years after this film was released, it was revealed that Langton had been receiving undisclosed payments from the mining giants including RioTinto to conduct pro-industry "research" on mining and society themes. Read this Crikey report below, you'll never take her seriously again .....
congrats!China has begun cutting down coals imported from Australia

Mining machinery filter
Time ischanging now with strong presence of China and BRIC nations. Also the major trading partner of Australian minerals is diversifying sources. In Australia, there is no solid manufatcuring sector. Everything is primary and speculative - land, mining, and commodities. The future of LuckyCountry depends a lot on how to cooperate with the neighbouring nations. The Australians need to broaden their horizon. No longer a British colony in many senses. Make Australia a Republic.

Coal is primarily used as a solid fuel to produce electricity and heat through combustion. World coal consumption was about 7.25 billion tonnes in 2010 The price of coal increased from around $30.00 per short ton in 2000 to around $150.00 per short ton as of September 2008.
