How I love to live in a democracy
Coal miners throughout the world still have to fight daily for a safe & healthy workplace. To hear how miners who make safety complaints today are treated by outlaw coal operators, check out Raymond Crooke's song "Big Coal Don't Like This Man At All" on YouTube. It tells the true story of Kentucky coal miner Charles Scott Howard, who stood up for safety at an underground mine operated by Arch Coal and was fired as a result. He filed a whistleblower case, won his job back and is working in the mines again!
i worked at hickleton, brother glynn at goldthorpe,it was a hard year but wouldent have missed it, we are proud to have been striking miners,,,,me and joe ward had the best suntan ever,( F,,CK the thatcher bitch,
I agree mate!
Goldthorpe looks different there! Times when everyone stuck together! Wish it was like it now.
Quite hypnotic this - just seeing police car after police car and hundreds of coppers with riot shields arriving in a little mining village. Are you sure you won't over-doing it Mrs Thatcher? Crazy cow.
@petertownend It was a good year all round in my opinion. And yep, twice in the cells for standing up for social values. 26 years on I'm back living on the land where I used to work for 13 years. Now it's fancy neighbours and wheelie bins.
@Teapot335 Sorry to hear mate .. I knew your Dad well .. Had some good laughs with him! I know all about them fans ..
Nice one, who's your old man? Cheers Archie
